U.S. shares diverge as oil prices rise in October 23 trading

The figures reflect an intraday snapshot, not the market close.

At 11:12 a.m. Eastern on October 23, the Dow was down 1% and the S&P 500 0.2%, while the Nasdaq composite was up 0.2%, according to AP’s market report.

The report also put Brent crude at $115.86 a barrel, up 2.4%. Oil and technology shares were influencing trading. These figures are a dated session snapshot; they do not describe final closing prices.
