Boeing’s new World Air Cargo Forecast, released on October 28, projects that the global freighter fleet will grow from 2,395 aircraft in 2025 to 4,010 in 2045. The manufacturer expects air-cargo traffic to roughly double over that period.

It forecasts a need for 2,930 new and converted freighters to add capacity and replace retiring aircraft. These figures are Boeing’s long-term market estimates, not confirmed aircraft orders, and remain subject to economic, trade and industry uncertainties.
