Australia’s Consumer Price Index rose 4.3% over the year to September, up from 4.0% in August, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on October 28. Housing was the largest contributor to annual inflation, followed by transport.

The ABS reported annual trimmed-mean inflation of 3.6%, a measure intended to reduce the influence of unusually large price movements. It revised August’s trimmed-mean reading to 3.5% after a change in seasonal factors. The September reference period is separate from the October publication date.
