Russia and Ukraine said a localized ceasefire around Russian-occupied Oleshky began on October 27 to prepare for a humanitarian operation, Reuters reported. Ukrainian rights commissioner Dmytro Lubinets confirmed the start of the pause.

The arrangement is intended to enable assistance and evacuations in a town facing shortages of food and medicine. It is a local measure, not a nationwide ceasefire or a peace agreement. The announcements do not by themselves establish that every planned delivery or evacuation has been completed.
