El Salvador’s foreign ministry said it intended to deploy more than 2,000 soldiers to Haiti to support the search for missing personnel and anti-gang operations, Reuters reported late on October 28. The announcement followed a call between President Nayib Bukele and Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aime.

Haiti’s electoral council also published a revised calendar placing the first round of presidential and legislative voting on July 18, 2027. The troop figure describes an announced deployment plan, rather than confirmation that the full force has arrived or that the missing personnel have been rescued.
