China reported on October 19 that its economy expanded 4.5% from a year earlier in the July–September quarter, according to the Associated Press. That compared with 4.3% in April–June.
AP reported growth of 4.6% across the first nine months of 2026. The figures describe different reporting periods and should not be treated as interchangeable. China's annual growth target was 4.5% to 5%.
